MRC consistently focuses on translating biomedical engineering research innovations and novel surgical robotic technologies into medical practices. Following the original aspiration of MRC, the hands-on surgical robot workshops are dedicated to providing a zero-distance communication platform for clinicians, engineers, and researchers from worldwide institutes. The workshops will take advantage of the hybrid operating room of MRC Lab, high-end medical imaging facilities for surgical robotics R&D and pre-clinical evaluations, with the aim to provide multi-topic live demonstrations conducted by surgeons. The operating room is equipped with 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, robotic-assisted C-Arm X-ray imaging system (Artis Zeego), Olympus endoscopic & laparoscopic system, and da Vinci® Research Kit (dVRK), as well as an animal preparation lab, supporting live animal and cadaveric studies. We sincerely look for worldwide collaborations established through these workshops, ultimately, to promote new research prototypes of novel surgical instruments/robots, as well as their commercialization.
The workshops will include four sessions separately regarding the following topics:
- Endoscopic Robot for Gastrointestinal Tumor Dissection
- Laparoscopic Robot System
- Image-guided Flexible Robotic Catheterization Platforms
- Endoluminal Robotic Navigation and Endoscopy
Multi-Scale Medical Robotics Center Symposium 2024 (MRC Symposium 2024) will be held on 9th -11th May 2024 in CUHK Medical Centre (Main Symposium) and MRC R&D Lab, Hong Kong Science Park (Hands-on Workshop).
The workshops in the Symposium will take advantage of the hybrid operating room of MRC Lab, high-end medical imaging facilities for surgical robotics R&D and pre-clinical evaluations, with the aim to provide multi-topic live demonstrations conducted by surgeons. In total of eight sets of surgical robotic systems will be displayed and demonstrated in the workshop sessions.
